Ng dev team a répondu rapidement :

    Hi Jose,

we are aware about this thread and we fully understand your concerns.

Unfortunately there are a couple of problems.

    1. We can't afford to do significantly larger print runs!
It simply would ruin us if we would try.

    2. A twice as big print run, only drops pricing by ~15 EUR per unit
A five times as big print run, only drops pricing by ~70 EUR per unit

    3. Production in China is only ~10% cheaper than in Germany for our PCBs/parts and our low print runs.

    4. If we produce 1000 cartridges it would costs us alone 187 days to get the game data into the cartridges, to test them, to assemble them and to put the artworks on them. Shipping not included...

    5. There is no real profit in MVS anymore, besides bootlegging.

    6. Only the DC versions/ports are really profitable for us. We produce MVS cartridges only for self-fulfillment, because we love to develop for the NEO GEO. Even though the NEO GEO development only hurts our reputation and is limiting our development as a company.

The only way to make these cartridges available to the masses, would be a huge success in the Japanese arcade. Unfortunately most arcade distributors won't stock our games, as they fear penalty from SNKP. We can't blame them, it's understandable.

There is still hope though, with each run, we will be able to reduce the pricing per cart slightly. Hopefully at some point in the future we will be able todo a redesign and reduce the price by a good amount. This redesign will be financed with the MVS release of Gun Lord. Games of the 3000 MEGS class, like Fast Striker won't run on those new PCBs though...

    Best regards,
    Timm

The music alone is 512 MEGS, so yes it will be bigger than 512 ;-)
As pixel art is very expensive, we can't deliver Metal Slug 3 quality
here :-) (afterall MS3 costs several millions to make) But it already
        looks great...

Gun Lord will be indeed a new kind of game, that never was on NEO GEO
        before...

        Best regards,
        Timm

" We are working on this too. The second print run is priced 399 EUR. Our goal within 2011 is 349 EUR for regular editions, below 349 EUR it's not worth the hassle anymore...
The 349 EUR cartridges will have reduced music data (most likely mono instead of stereo or reduced tracks). Only small games <=128 MEGS of GFX data will be available on this new designed carts. Last Hope Pink Bullets and Gun Lord are candidates. Our next game after GL is in this range too.

349 EUR is the price a new SNK AES cart cost here in Germany back in time, we consider that a fair price (within the realms of NEO GEO) for new games. We can't get blamed for the fact, that the Dollar is not worth much here in EU...
Most people seem to think that SNK games never cost more than 30 bucks, new SNKP games were in the 800 EUR range here in the EU...and SNKP produced up to 150.000 units of them (1993-1994) and later >1996 in the 50.000 to 5.000 range.

Q: Have you talked with SNKP directly about that?

We are under NDA with SNKP, I can't talk much about it. But we have a gentleman agreement that SNKP don't interfere with our NG releases. That of course doesn't change the fact, that Japanese distributors, large arcade chains and magazines don't stock/cover our games of fear for legal constraints. We don't have any official papers after all... "

We will. Hopefully we'll have some proper screenshots ready this month. We don't want to show anything half-assed about this game you know!

A mon avis, mvs only .
