Duke Nukem Forever has seemingly been in production forever. In fact, the long-awaited PC titles has been in the hopper for ten years. While some thought the game might be axed, it appears Duke Nukem Forever is closer to becoming a reality than previously in its long history. In an interview with Yougamers, 3D Realms CEO Scott Miller confirmed that the title was still in development and that significant progress was being made.
So why has the new Duke Nukem title been stuck in development hell for so long? "We fully admit [we] screwed up the development of DNF, and it's now an industry joke," Miller told YouGamers. Adding that 3D Realms "set the bar too high" and "tried too hard to make the game to beat all games." That philosophy has changed over the past year-and-a-half. Miller said that 3D Realms has "taken a much more realistic look at the project, we've hired a truckload of experienced help, and I personally believe we are now on the right track…finally."
Many PC gamers were a bit fearful of DNF, assuming the game would be a true beast that only high-end systems could handle. According to Miller, that's not the case. "We try to support all of the newer, cool whiz-bang graphics features," Miller admitted to YouGamers, "but at the same time we try to make it so the game will run on middle-range machines, too."
Recent rumors suggested that Duke Nukem Forever was also coming to Xbox 360. "The plan is definitely to bring DNF to multiple platforms," Miller said, though he would not name specific consoles.
No release date is in sight for DNF, but it does appear the game is starting to gain some momentum. Perhaps we won't have to wait another decade to enjoy Duke Nukem Forever.

SourceAn insider reveals that significant progress has been made on the PC code of the game and development has finally picked up its pace over the year. The game’s look is supposed to be completely over the edge with tons of stuff returning from the original series (Shrink ray and Nuke button rumored to be confirmed). The gameplay is being pepped up with attitude, killing a mutated pig with a 8 ball stick never felt so good, a console version is also being planned upon simultaneously, and expect further announcements around some big gaming expos next year.
On continue d'y croire!
